The New England Patriots or know as the “Pats” by most sport writers and fans, is a professional American football team playing their home games in Foxborough Massachusetts. This team is a member of the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in National Football League (NFL). Its original or former name is Boston Patriots after relocating the sites to where it is now.

The team is an original member of the American Football League (AFL) but joined the NFL in the 1970 merger. This team advanced to the playoffs four times before they appeared in January 1986 Super Bowl XX in which they lose against Chicago Bears. The team also appeared in January 1997 Super Bowl XXXI in which again they lost against Green Bay Packers.

The New England Patriots became the second team in the NFL history between 2001 and 2005 after the Dallas Cowboys in which they won three Super Bowl s in four years and the eighth to win consecutive Super Bowl. But the team was defeated by the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII after they won their first 18 games of 2007 season.
